Hidradenitis suppurativa, also known as Acne Inversa, is a chronic skin infection characterized by the formation of painful lumps in the underarms and groin. These lumps develop due to inflammation of the sweat glands and often enlarge and release pus. They typically occur in areas where skin rubs together, such as the armpits, groin, and buttocks. In conventional medicine, the condition is usually treated with steroids, but long-term use of these drugs can have side effects. To avoid these side effects, non-pharmacological therapies like naturopathy can be considered as an alternative. Naturopathy involves changing dietary habits and adopting detoxification methods, which can help improve the condition. In a recent case study, a 25-year-old female with Hidradenitis suppurativa sought naturopathic treatment on December 27, 2022. She presented with complaints of gradual weight gain, irregular menstrual cycles, and oozing lesions in the pelvic area, back of the ear, and underarms. The case was treated with naturopathic interventions, detoxification procedures, a soft diet, and relaxation techniques over a period of 45 days. The patient experienced progressive improvement in her inflammatory lesions, a weight reduction of about 10 kilograms, and regularized menstrual cycles. This study suggests that naturopathy can be effective in managing chronic conditions like Hidradenitis suppurativa.
